Here are a few images from an event I photographed for the Buddhist Peace Fellowship in Berkeley. These nuns have traveled here from Nepal to raise both awareness and funds for their inspiring project called Dhamma Moli. The project provides an opportunity for refuge and education in a Buddhist monastery school for young Nepalese girls at risk of falling victim to human traffickers who sell them into brothels and circuses in India. In addition to building a school for the girls, the sisters run an educational program, traveling to mountain villages of war-torn Nepal finding girls at risk and educating the rural populace about the deceptions and ploys used by traffickers to trick families into selling or sending their daughters away in the hope of a better life.
I recently documented the San Francisco Olympic torch protest for human rights for the people of Burma and Tibet. So in light of the recent devastating cyclone I thought I should post a site where one can make a donation. It was an honor to document this peaceful protest march across the Golden Gate bridge led by Jack Kornfield and other Buddhist clergy in support of the monks and nuns of Burma. Enjoy the slideshow!
All proceeds from the sale of this DVD will go to the Buddhist Peace Fellowship or the Foundation for the People of Burma
For me, this picture says it all. I hope it’s a ‘sign’ that there is no going back now since so much world wide attention is being focused on the human rights abuses in both Burma and Tibet.

With love and support for the monks, nuns and people of Burma and Tibet.
